Letters I’ve sent to “the Man”
Growing up in sociology classes, and government we were told to write letters. It’s 2025, I don’t believe there are getting read. “ i am a needle in a haystack.” I am quite aware how foolish many of your think me to be, but it is all I can do. This is the letters sent page.
40 years of writing
I have a day job
I have a career in health care services and all that, but I’m actually an artist, a musician, a mother, a friend, a lover, and a free thinking Libertarian Woman. I do not fuck around. I believe in Minimal government- “ to each their own- but don’t be a dick, mind your business, and your manners. Yet – artist, comedians, writers, and all people must have FREE SPEECH. You can choose what to listen to. I am for less government dictating our lives in our homes, families, and bodies, but an absolute believer in stimulus for the poor, housing for the unhoused, and social services for overtly stricken elderly, children, and humans for elderly. Legalize and mind your business, yet know if you hurt others then you just made it there business, see? That what this Liberty thing is all about. I am for free trade and competition in all sectors of capitalism. “Give me liberty or give me death.” I do not comply with governments as dictators, communist, or fascist governments. I do not comply with war and violence against other humans for the sake of greed and property.
Letter to the President – Donald J Trump 2/25/2025
Dear Mr. President,
It is shocking that you would side with Russia in any way shape or form. There have been egregious forms of human rights violations, extreme torture of Ukraine POW’s. What has been reported by Russian prison guards, soldiers, and prisoners of war that have been released is reminiscent of what the Nazi’s did to their captors. What have you become, what have we become? This is so disgraceful. Where is the USA who were the rescue crew of the abused and tortured? Ukraine was such a lovely country of beautiful buildings, people, and history destroyed now – and you KNOW Russia went in for a power grab. You have to stand up to this disgusting situation. Either walk away completely from all foreign situations, or leave the UN and drop the bomb on Russia. I don’t care – which, but you CANNOT SIDE WITH HIM, WITH VPutin! what an embarrassing moment for the legacy of our country.
I hope you take the time to consider these alternate points of view. I haven’t bothered with a works cited page, since this is all verifiable and I am sure you know.
Sincerely, with Best Regards,
Alison Myrick Colley

Letter to Harvey Billington 2/24/25
House representative for my district
Please Vote to help our Community – with a Christ like heart
Mr. Billington,
As a citizen of America, and Poplar Bluff, Missouri, I write to you today to ask you to reject the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act Bill as it stands written. I find it against the ideas of a small government to let debt continue to rise, exceeding our GDP. In this bill, the biggest cuts appear to be to Medicaid, Medicare, and food stamp benefits for Americans. Though President Trump states it will not touch Medicaid, the language in the current bill is too vague to ensure that is a fact.
The citizens in your district, where I live, have an average median income of about 30,000 dollars a year. Our rent and home prices have skyrocketed since the covid pandemic. About 30 % of our community relies on Medicaid services. This would be a deadly decision to cut any funding for Medicaid. Take for instance my mother, Tracy Page. She is in poverty and receives Medicaid under Missouri Expanded Medicaid. Even her cardiologist states that were she to lose her health care coverage, and not be able to get her medication, she will die. My mother is only 63, and I do think people who are elderly or suffering in poverty should be allowed access to affordable health care.
I would like to further emphasize the median income of our community, sitting at approx. 30,000 a year. We are not in the top
1 %. I cannot envision in any way these tax cuts will help our community. The top 1% should not have the biggest tax breaks. If we want to tackle our current deficit this is the absolute opposite of the proper course of action.
If we want to bring down inflation and increase spending in our community, then we need to stimulate the economy here in our middle-class community.
We are sitting with about a 1% illegal immigrant problem in our area, so this is not a concern to me currently. Most of us are concerned with the amount of homelessness in our area due to the lack of affordable housing. There is nothing in this bill at all that will benefit Butler County and especially will not benefit the rural towns surrounding us.
I understand you to be a Christian, and in that aspect, I plead with you to stand up to the wealthy elites who go against our values and will further suppress the regular man/ woman.
21 Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” 22 When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. 23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

Letter to House Rep for surrounding rural communities – Campbell, MO rep 2/24/2025
Ms. Parker,
As a citizen of America, and Poplar Bluff, Missouri, I write to you today to ask you to reject the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act Bill as it stands written.
The citizens in your district have an average median income of about 25,000 for women and 47,000 for men. The poverty rate is above 27%. Our rent and home prices have skyrocketed since the covid pandemic. About 31 % of Campbell relies on Medicaid services.
We are not in the top 1 %. I cannot envision in any way these tax cuts will help our community or Campbell. The top 1% should not have the biggest tax breaks. If we want to tackle our current deficit this is the absolute opposite of the proper course of action.
